Kierkegaard bases “Fear and Trembling” on the story from the Bible about God, which orders Abraham to kill his son Isaac. Abraham was prepared to do so, and should therefore be considered a religious violent psychopath in the eyes of todays mainstream society. The story uses Kierkegaard to speculate about what it means to believe.
